25 Random Things…

If you’re my friend on facebook, you may have already seen this.   If not, why not?

I’ve been tagged 45 thousand times and I’m home sick, so what the heck…
RULE: Once you’ve been tagged you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you it’s because I want to know more about you.

1) I was named after the song “Mandy” by Barry Manilow. Thanks Mom.

2) “Mandy” is what my entire immediate and extended family calls me. Everyone else I know including friends, co-workers, in-laws, etc know me by no other name than Amanda. Sometimes when I go home to NY to visit and someone says “Mandy” I don’t even turn around b/c I forget they are talking to me!

3) I have over 40 first cousins.

4) My best friend Jessica died in a car accident in 6th grade. I only knew her for one year and yet 17 years later I still think of her often.

5) I once stayed up for an entire weekend talking to my BFF Erica. We were juniors in HS and decided to see if we could do it. We lugged firewood, tents, food etc up the side of a mountain near her house and camped for the entire weekend. We talked about family, our future and God for literally three days- 72 hours. I’ll never forget it.

6) Years later with the same friend Erica – we were lifeguarding at Camp Aldersgate back in ’99 and decided it would be “fun” to sleep out on the dock. It was really cool to sleep under the stars and not have to worry about bears or racoons or other wildlife I convince myself would get me!

7) I have an irrational fear of bees, sleeping in the woods and driving on the highway. And heights. And liberals. And plaid.

8) I’m deathly allergic to seafood but live in the lobster capital of the world. My husband finds this irony irritating.

9) Beaver Camp changed my life. I got saved there when I was 14 and haven’t looked back since.

10) My favorite thing to do in the world is worship the Lord. I could spend hours singing praises to my King.

11) Andy and I both have green guitars. Neither of us know how to use them very well. I took a semester of classic guitar in college but that’s about all I got.

12) I am happiest when I’m creating something. I love scrapbooking, crafts, cooking and baking. When we moved to Maine I even got my own scrapbooking room. I spend lots of time in there working on projects and listening to music or sermons.

13) I feel a great call on my life to be a mother, but it hasn’t happened yet. My husband and I have been going through infertility treatments since April.

13b.) We have complete faith in His timing.

14) I hate shaving my legs. This has nothing to do with #13.

15) I speak to my sisters Erin and Katie and my Mom every single day. We all live in different states but we are closer than we’ve ever been.

16) My husband has been doing laundry every single night for an entire month. Yesterday he vacuumed and washed all the carpets. I have fallen in love with him all over again.

17) We spent our honeymoon in the Dominican Republic at a couples only resort. We arrived at 11am and by 4pm we were floating around in the mile long pool *dunk and sunburnt. *This was not intentional – swim up bars are just not a good idea.

18) I’ve seen Anne of Green Gables/Avonlee at least three hundred times. I want to go to Prince Edward Island the first chance I get.

19) I left my freshman year in college a month early with mono. I got to skip all my finals, but I was so sick I slept for 14-18 hours a day.

20) My Dad is going through another divorce. My heart is broken for all involved.

21) I once lived in Greenwich, CT. While there I met: Glenn Close, Vanessa Williams and saw David Letterman.

22) My husband is so much better than I ever dreamed. I thank God for him daily.

23) My MIL on the other hand…

24) The smell of onions and garlic cooking remind me of my Grandma Chartrand.

25) I hate socks. I only wear them 2-3 times a year. I prefer to be barefoot at all times.

  1. I think we’re more alike than I thought…

BTW-about the fear of bees, I never knew. You seemed calm and collected. Now sleeping in the woods…I had an idea.
    Ditto to #’s 3, 10, 12, 14 and 25(can I still say ditto? Is ditto still ‘hip’?)
    # 13, 13b We struggled for a bit w/not being able to conceive as well, those were trying times and God taught me a WHOLE lot.
